The Campaign for Safe Cosmetics randomly purchased more than 30 lipsticks in four cities and sent them to a lab for lead testing. More than half came back with levels of lead. MAC was one of the brands tested. While manufacturers claim the levels are too low to be harmful, I wouldn't want to take a chance. And, lead is probably the least of our concerns when it comes to toxic substances in cosmetics. Check the label on your beauty products and google the ingredients...it is scary. As consumers, we need to be more proactive and start paying attention to what we are putting on and in our bodies. Personally, I avoid all mainstream products and opt for natural/organic products or make my own.
